ICC PRESS RELEASE
Most Sophomores Since 2014 — and Highest Percentage of Sophomores in a Decade — Participate in Street Week
Princeton, NJ – February 09, 2022 – The Interclub Council (ICC) is excited to report, after a successful hybrid admissions process, general statistics from Street Week 2022.
This year’s Street Week offered a plethora of new challenges for sophomores and club members alike, as clubs used a hybrid events system to introduce new members to the clubs! We adapted to this model to account for the challenges presented to the process by Covid-19. In order to optimize the Street Week experience while putting an emphasis on the health and safety of students, we hosted events in person and also over internet platforms like Zoom. This enabled everyone who was interested to participate in Street Week. We wanted students to get a clear sense of what it feels like to be in an eating club and worked hard to ensure that the experience could be translated online to reach those who were not able or did not wish to explore in person.
For the fourth year in a row, 100% of sophomores who participated were placed in a club.
In 2022, a total of 1070 students, 82% of the sophomore class, participated in Street Week. This represents the highest number of sophomore participants that the ICC has seen since 2014, and the highest percentage of sophomore participation in the past decade. Street Week 2022 was a huge success, especially considering the planning complications brought by the ever-adapting Covid-19 policies.
The club system continues to have strong percentages when it comes to placement. This year, 83% of sophomores were placed in their 1st or 2nd choice club. This represents a slight decrease from last year’s 87%, most likely due to greater participation by sophomores. In addition, interested juniors who participated in the process were admitted to many clubs.
Additionally, 71% of sophomores who participated in Street Week chose to double-bicker.
Of the sophomores who bickered a selective club this year, 66.7% were admitted.
Finally, the Group Sign-In feature continued to see successful implementation in its second year: there were a total of 14 Groups created, with 46 students opting to sign in as part of a group.
The ICC is excited by the success of Street Week 2022, and looks forward to continuing to welcome the Class of 2024 to the Street!
